Germany relaxes Schengen visa rules for Indian tourists

Good News for Indian tourists who intend to visit Germany. Some of the requirements for obtaining a schengen visa for tourists from India have been eased. According to the authorities at the German embassy in India, Indian citizens may now schedule a visa appointment at any of the country’s major cities. It can be done through VFS worldwide Visa Application Centres.

The Schengen visa can be applied for three months before the departure date. However, the D-visa category is exempt from this modification (for example student, employment, and family reunion visa among others). Travelers with a Schengen visa may legally remain in any Schengen member state for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

These are- Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

In case you are wondering according to 2024, a German Schengen Visa has increased from 80 Euros to 90 Euros per adult and 40 Euros to 45 Euros for minors i.e. children aged 6 to 12 years. There is no visa fee for children under the age of six years.

The visa application must be submitted by those requesting a student visa for Germany. This has to include a current passport, two recent photographs, and current information. This must be valid for three additional months after the intended Schengen stay.
