Berlin was awarded the most Christmassy city
Berlin has been officially proclaimed the most festive in all of Europe, ranking off the charts for Christmassy-ness. In the survey, Berlin was awarded the most Christmassy city. The city is home to a number of traditional Christmas markets, which are a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. These markets, which are held in various locations throughout the city, offer a wide range of festive activities, including the sale of traditional holiday crafts and food, carol singing, and other entertainment.
It’s official: Berlin is the most joyful city in Europe to spend the holidays. This city is no stranger to Christmas markets, with the first one taking place in 1530. With over 80 markets spread around the city, you’re sure to discover one that’s suitable for you. Enjoy a warm cup of Glühwein while taking in the colorful lights at Frankfurter Allee’s Christmas Carnival, or walk to Berlin Town Hall and ride the historic Ferris wheel. In addition to the Christmas markets, Berlin is also home to a number of other festive events and attractions during the holiday season. These include the annual tree lighting ceremony in front of the Brandenburg Gate, ice skating rinks, and other holiday-themed events and activities.
The holiday booking platform Holidu compiled the ranking, which includes 110 cities from across the continent and compares them based on four main parameters: the number of Instagram hashtags, the total number of Christmas markets in each location, the monthly search volume for each destination, and the average number of snow days in December.
Vienna, a popular destination for holiday visitors, came in second. Prague came in third, maybe because it has one of Europe’s greatest Christmas markets. To no one’s surprise, another German city quickly followed, with Munich finishing fourth. Overall, not a bad ranking for the Christmas country.
Up and down the country, nine more cities were able to persuade the judges of their Christmassiness, with Hamburg coming in 11th, Cologne coming in 25th, and Dresden coming in 26th. Further south, Nuremberg ranked 41st with an average score, while Stuttgart ranked 49th. Lübeck was ranked 67th, Düsseldorf was ranked 71st, and Hannover was ranked 82nd. Switzerland takes a seasonal hit in the Christmassy-ness rankings. On the surface, Switzerland may appear to be an easy option for one of Europe’s most festive towns. According to Holidu, the tinsel crown has been passed down.
Overall, Berlin is a wonderful destination to visit during the holiday season, and it is sure to get you into the festive spirit. Whether you’re interested in shopping for traditional holiday gifts, trying delicious seasonal treats, or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, Berlin has something to offer everyone during the holiday season.
