Until 2022, over half of Germany’s gas supply relied on Russia, primarily through the Nord Stream pipeline. In December and January, electricity is expected to decrease by an average of 15 percent, along with natural gas prices. Verivox estimates that half of the 9.5 million households relying on gas heating systems could be affected. The projected future average gas price is around 14 cents per kilowatt-hour, marginally surpassing the existing price cap of 12 cents.
