Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (German: Fachhochschule Dortmund) is a Fachhochschule in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the Ruhr area, Europe’s fourth-largest urban area. It has three campuses in different parts of Dortmund due to its history as a separate institution. The mechanical and electrical engineering departments are located near the city center on Sonnenstraße. The “Königliche Werkmeisterschule für Maschinenbauer” was founded in 1890. Nonetheless, the basic concept has remained consistent over time: study and teaching focused on practical problem-solving, taught by highly experienced professors, cementing the link between theory and practice.
