About the Institute

The Munich Intellectual Property Law Center is a core for both experimentations and intellectual property and competition law which is situated in Munich, Germany. The institute was founded in 2003. It is a joint project of the George Washington University Law School and three German institutions; the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, the University of Augsburg, and the Technical University of Munich.

Courses offered

It offers the Master of Law (LL.M.) program “Intellectual Property and Competition Law” in the English language.

Jobs and Internships

Usually, students do not have time to do any additional work like jobs during the course as the courses are very intense and rigorous. But after the submission of the Master’s research, students can complete an internship (which is optional) usually between mid-September and mid-November. The internship is an outstanding opportunity to practice the newly obtained knowledge.

House and accommodation

For housing and accommodation students have to find it on their own. Accommodation services are not provided by the institute but it can help you to find private accommodation by providing the list of available rental agencies, dormitories, etc.

Cost of Living

The cost of living in Munich is around 800 EUR/month. However, the expenses of living merely depend on the lifestyle of students and the place students choose to live in the city. Mandatory payment of semester fee which is around 425 EUR/semester is necessary.
