Places to visit near the University
Essen is the largest city on the Ruhr and has a population of over half a million people. Many big industrial companies have their headquarters here, and some of them may be visited as part of a guided tour. Essen’s centuries-long history as the center of Germany’s major heavy industries is commemorated in a variety of noteworthy museums and tourist destinations around the region.
- The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex: often known as Zeche Zollverein, is one of Essen’s most prominent tourist sites. This intriguing viewing opportunity, known simply as “Zollverein,” is located in a huge abandoned industrial region that was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
- Grugapark and the Botanic Garden: The lovely Grugapark, 175 acres of the public park put out in 1929 for the Great Ruhrland Garden Show, is a delightful (and short) stroll from Essen’s city center.
- The Old Synagogue: The Old Synagogue (Alte Synagogue) in Essen functions as a place of prayer as well as a memorial site. This massive structure, which dates from 1913, is one of Germany’s best-preserved and most remarkable Jewish cultural institutions.
Through scientific training, The Ruhr Campus Academy (RCA) fosters science and research. The training courses’ principles and material are scientifically solid and based on current research findings. Critical reflexivity should be sparked by scientific techniques and ways of thinking. Interdisciplinarity should enlighten and connect learning information from several angles. The value of a professional practice is already factored into the design of higher education. Competencies, abilities, and information acquired by participants and students are beneficial in the workplace.
