The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts or Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, HfMDK is the sole state Hochschule for music, theatre, and dance in the German state of Hesse. It was established in 1938. Performance on all instruments and voices, music education, composition, conducting, and church music are all part of the academic programs. Musical theatre, drama, and dance are also offered. Doctoral programs in musicology and music education are offered at the university. Approximately 950 students are presently enrolled out of which 40% are  Non-EU nationalists.

The Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (HfMDK) has 63 professors and 350 lecturers who teach roughly 950 students from more than 50 countries.  The HfMDK successfully prepares students for music, theatre, and dance jobs through a variety of artistic, pedagogical, and scientific training in 26-degree  programs.
