IELTS gives official certification for the English language, and the majority of German colleges use it to assess language proficiency. There are two types of tests: IELTS Academics and IELTS General.

What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing system. You must take a recognized test, such as the IELTS, to demonstrate your English language ability if you wish to immigrate to an English-speaking nation or enroll in an English-speaking university.

There is no passing or failing criteria. You just need to score a good score on a scale from 1 to 9.

Uses of IELTS General and IELTS Academic

Your choice of the test varies with the location you want to live or work.

IELTS General:

The IELTS General exam tests your use of everyday English. It is suitable for secondary education, migration, or work experience.

- - - Secondary education includes anything below degree levels such as school or college.
    - Migration includes destination countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand.

IELTS Academic:

IELTS Academic is more suitable for students wanting to pursue their higher education in any foreign country. However, they can also work there.

- - - Undergraduate and postgraduate programs at university are included in higher education.
