Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light was founded in the year in the year 2009. Located in Staudtstraß, it is one of the more than 80 institutes that make up the Max Planck Society. Conducting basic research in the service of the general public in the natural sciences, life sciences, social sciences, and the humanities is the main mission of this institute.
