About Helmut-Schmidt-Universität

Helmut-Schmidt-Universität (HSU) was established in 1973 as a German military educational institution. It is located in Hamburg, Germany. It was the initiative of the then-Federal Minister of Defence, Helmut Schmidt. “Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg” is the full name of the university presently. It is one of two universities founded by the Bundeswehr to educate and develop future and current officers. Approximately 2,800 students are now enrolled, with 4% of them being Non-EU Nationalists.
