IELTS Score Calculation

IELTS score is required for international candidates who want to study or work in a country where English is the major language of communication. The most common countries that accept IELTS for university admissions are the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Germany, and Canada. There are two ways to take this test: online or offline, using pen and paper for the IELTS.

How to Calculate IELTS Score

Reading, listening, writing, and speaking tests are the 4 sections of the IELTS test. In each section, you get a band score on a scale of 0-9. The scoring pattern remains the same in both Online and Paper based tests. IELTS final band is calculated by adding all the band scores from individual tests and dividing them by 4.

The IELTS test has four separate band scores, which range from 0 to 9. While the average of these values constitutes the final IELTS score. For instance, my ultimate band score would be (8+8+7+7)/4=7.5 if I received an 8 in listening, 8 in writing, 7 in speaking, and 7 in reading.

Is IELTS 6.5 Good for Germany?

Germany is a great location for international students wishing to study abroad. Germany attracts students from all over the world because of its excellent education, thriving metropolis built on breathtaking natural surroundings, and welcoming people. However, the majority of German institutions demand an IELTS score to determine a non-English student’s level of English ability.
