The RWTH Aachen University is a technical university with an open research university that has domestic as well as international connections. Housing and Accommodation

If students have decided to stay in the dorms, private accommodation prices in Aachen depend on location. A single bedroom apartment in the heart of the city is around €380/month whereas outside the center it is way cheaper, around €350/month. At the beginning of the semester, it is particularly hard to find an available place, especially at a reasonable price. Thus, it’s wiser to start looking for a room at least two to three months before coming to Aachen. At RWTH, some of the student advising services are available in providing housing information. Whether students find Aachen expensive or not, depends on the kind of person they are and the way they manage their budget. If their money management is good then they will do fine in Aachen because there are many chain stores and cheaper suppliers. The average amount of living costs tallies up to €824/month. Additionally, students also have to pay mandatory semester fees which is approximately €250/semester.

Places to Visit Near the RWTH Aachen University

Aachen is the westernmost city of Germany. Which played an incredible role historically. The heart of Aachen is peppered by old buildings and walls in the style of early Baroque (old Roman and Byzantine style), mainly the old town of Aachen. Hence allowing students to explore the city. There are many tourist places around the city following are a few:

  • Charlemagne Cathedral: It’s an iconic cathedral that has around ten chapels inside. Moreover, its the oldest church in Europe built by the order of Emperor Charlemagne, who was buried there in 814. A wonder for the students to explore.
  • Eifelsteig: It’s a long-distance hiking trail in Eifel, Germany. It spans 14–28 kilometers from the Aachen district Kornelimünster to Trier and is maintained by the Eifel Club. It is a great way for students to wind down and enjoy nature.
  • City Hall Aachen: Aachen Town Hall is a landmark of cultural significance. It is located in the Altstadt of Aachen, Germany, and was built in the Gothic architecture style in the first half of the 14th century. Students can visit this place for its exuberant city vibe.
