About the University

The University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen was founded in 1971. It was formerly known as Fachhochschule Gießen-Friedberg (University of Applied Sciences). The University has three campuses in the cities of Giessen, Friedberg, and Wetzlar and is a German Fachhochschule for bachelor’s and master’s studies.

The University offers a total of 79-degree courses.THM is one of the first economics marketing graduate courses in Germany to be taught in English. The University enrolls around 16,000 students and is the second-oldest higher technical educational institution in the German state of Hesse.

Jobs/Internships

Internships at THM can be offered to students only from the university’s partner institutions. The University offers an internship program called the “European Industrial Experience Mittelhessen” (EIEM) from partner institutions for interested students. Students can earn around €600 for each month of the internship.

House and Accommodation

THM has published a brochure containing important information about finding a place to live in Giessen and Friedberg in cooperation with the Giessen Student Services Organization and Justus Liebig University. You can find halls of residence and private rooms. Online accommodation portals are also available.

Cost of Living

On average, the student has to spend around 800 euros/month which includes rent, food, travel expenses, health insurance, internet, mobile, and other personal needs. This would cost around INR 70,000/month and 950 USD/month.
