About the University

The Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences was established in1971. It is a non-profit public higher education institution in the large town of Freising. It proposes fields and programs leading to officially approved higher education degrees such as bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees in several areas of study.

At present, the university has over 6,000 students enrolled out of which there are over 300 international students. It provides 18 Bachelor courses, 16 dual study programs, 10 master’s courses, of which 2 international master’s courses.

Students can apply for jobs and internships along with their studies to make some earnings. University also provides career service which helps students to do the job simultaneously with their studies and to meet their expenses.  Also, jobs are easily available at some companies like ACONEXT Holding GmbH, Technica Engineering GmbH, ARS Altmann AG on online portals. if the student wants to work outside the university, there are many available options such as nearby stores, shops, and call centers.

House and accommodation

For accommodation, students can apply at student residences where the rooms are rented on temporary leases for semesters according to the course student is pursuing. If students want private accommodation, they can find them in the city which are available as single or shared flats, according to their preferences. However, rent varies according to distinct places. The average amount is between 350-600 EUR/month according to different places.

Cost of living

Expenses of living entirely depend on the lifestyle of a student. The average cost of expense is around 650-800 EUR/month which includes mandatory payment such as semester fees and semester tickets which hardly cost around 200-250 EUR/semester. Rent and utilities will cost around 650 EUR/ month.

Places to visit near The University

  • Altes Gefangis Freising- It is a historic building complex located at Oberen Domberggasse 16 in the old town of Freising.
  • Freising Cathedral- It is the co-church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
  • Dachau concentration camp memorial site- It was a Nazi concentration camp initiated on 22 March 1933, which was originally designed to keep political prisoners.
  • Diözesanmuseum Freising- It is the diocesan museum of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and one of the largest religious museums in the world.

This is the only university of applied sciences that has consistently specialized in green engineering degree programs. Their all study programs are based on nature, man, and natural resources. Students get a chance to live and learn on the largest green campus in Germany.
