About the University

Witten/Herdecke University was established in 1983. It is located in Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. This is the first German private university of higher education. Having 30 year period, this university introduced importance in teaching and research.  For centuries, It has been a meeting point of cultures and people from various international backgrounds. Having excellent academic programs and theoretical training,  the university attracts many students from all over the world. The university has more than 2500 student enrollment and 582 staff.

Places to visit near Witten/Herdecke University

On weekends after a hectic schedule students can spend a good time roaming around Witten. They can visit the Lake of Kemnade which is a big lake. Harkortsee is also a beautiful lake to visit. Botanical Garden is also a must-visit for its peaceful environment. They can visit Hardenstein Castle which is a historic place. Students can take a visit to Hengsteysee. It is a reservoir on the Ruhr river to visit. They can visit a work park called Freizeitbad Heveney. It is a great place for relaxation. Apart from that, students can visit a technical museum called LWL Industrial Museum Mine Nachtigall in Witten.
