Warning Strike in Regional Bus Services in Germany
The ver.di trade union has called for all-day warning strikes in regional bus services on May 25 and 26, 2023. The VVS is impacting the bus companies LVL in Ludwigsburg, OVG and Hildenbrand in Göppingen, and Spillmann in the Bietigheim-Bissingen region. Passengers can view a list of which bus companies are on the warning strike on which day below. Not all bus companies will be on strike on both days. The warning strike in regional bus services may also have an impact on other bus operators. The SSB’s buses and trains, as well as the S-Bahn and regional trains, won’t be participating in the strike and will operate as normal.
VVS advises travelers to check their connections via the VVS app or online at vvs.de on the warning strike day. The timetable information will either keep or withdraw the strike-affected lines based on the available information. On strike days, the journey connections automatically show without the strike-affected modes of transportation. A fast assessment of whether a link is also achievable without a bus, maybe accompanied with a longer walk, is provided to passengers.
Which lines will be affected by the strike?
On Thursday (May 25, 2023):
- Spillmann in Bietigheim-Bissingen: 541, 542, 544, 551, 551A, 554, 554A, 556, 558, 559, 561, 563, 564 and N57
- OVG in Goeppingen: 911, 911A, 912, 912A, 913, 913A, 914, 914A, 915, 916, 916A, 917, 918, 931, 931A, 932, 932A, 933, 933A, 934, 934A, 940, 941, 941A, 942, 943 and X93
- Hildenbrand in Goeppingen: 961, 962, 963, 964, 965, 965A, 966, 966A, 967, 968, 980, 980A, 981, 981A, 982, 983, 983A, 984, 984A. Individual journeys by the subcontractor RAB can also be canceled (lines 951, 951A, 957, 970, 971, 972A)
On Friday (May 26, 2023):
- Spillmann in Bietigheim-Bissingen: 541, 542, 544, 551, 551A, 554, 554A, 556, 558, 559, 561, 563, 564 and N57
- LVL in Ludwigsburg: 411, 412, 413, 414, 415, 420, 421, 421A, 422, 422A, 423, 424, 425, 425A, 426, 427, 427A, 428, 429, 430, 430A, 431, 433, 433A, 451 and X43 as well as the night bus lines N41, N42, N43, N47, N48 from Friday to Saturday
Important note: The warning strike may have an impact on additional businesses in addition to those mentioned above.
Bicycles, carpooling, or sharing options are alternatives for the strike
Weather permitting, biking can be an alternative for some passengers. The VVS cycling route planner, which can be accessed at www.vvs.de/radroutenplaner, can be used to display the cycle route. Carpooling privately or using rental scooters, e-bikes, or other modes of transportation can also be a useful alternative depending on the situation.
